First, lets discuss a bit about birthday parties. Many people rent a hall, or a restaurant space for their children's birthday party. Why spend crazy money like that? A better and cheaper solution would be to go to a local park instead. The kids can play outside games as part of the party. Unless, of course the weather is no good for this. In this case, have it at somebody's house or your house if there's enough space.
If you like to shop a lot there is still ways to save while shopping. Point systems are great to have and use. Air miles, Aeroplan, The Bay, Home Outfitters all have reward programs where you can collect points and eventually end up saving $75.00 in the long run.You keep collecting until you feel the time is right and then you redeem and save.
Do you and your family like going out to the movies? Going out to the movies is rising in price all of the time unless you go on cheap night (if your area has cheap night). It is a lot cheaper just to rent a movie off of pay per view or go to your local library and borrow a movie instead.
Another fun thing to do with your family is have a "game night". Play board games once a week and have popcorn or do some baking.
If you have a vehicle, it's always nice to go for a family ride and view different scenaries. It's all about what your family likes to do. I'm trying to give you some ideas of fun and cheap things to do because it is quite expensive to do many things nowadays.
If you have nice weather, why not go for a hike/walk? It's always nice to enjoy the outdoors in the woods or on a nature path and bring a camera because you may see some beautiful things you want to capture on camera. It can also be educational for your family at the same time.
